The Embassy of Malta in Tripoli announced last Tuesday (17 February) that officers from the Civil Protection Department of Malta participated in a mission in Libya in support of the Libyan National Centre for Emergencies and Disaster Management.
It reported that the Maltese team, composed of three senior fire officers and one sergeant from Malta Police Force, is undertaking two key tasks:
• Conducting a preliminary technical assessment of significant ground cracks in the Isbea area, approximately 50km from Tripoli.
• Assisting in the collection of water samples from a lake in Zuwara to analyse water quality and availability.
The Embassy said this mission reflects Malta’s continued commitment to supporting Libya through practical cooperation and technical expertise. It also strengthens the operational capabilities of Maltese emergency response personnel while reinforcing the strong ties of friendship between the two countries.
Through solidarity and partnership, Malta remains ready to contribute to regional stability and resilience, the Embassy statement concluded.
