CBL Governor Issa vows to end Libya’s liquidity crisis by 1 October

CBL receives results from meetings with international banks

Central Bank of Libya Governor Naji Issa said he will end Libya’ liquidity crisis by 1 October, the eastern based state Libyan news agency LANA reported yesterday.

‎Issa made the pledge during his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ageela Saleh, in Benghazi yesterday. During the meeting they discussed economic reforms and the development of monetary policy. The meeting was in the presence of Deputy CBL Governor Maree Al-Barassi and the First and Second HoR Deputy Speakers.

‎During the meeting, Governor Issa stressed with regards ending the cash crisis that he is working effectively and systematically to activate and develop electronic payment operations. ‎

‎The CBL also presented during the meeting proposals to the HoR aimed at resolving some of the bottlenecks faced by the Central Bank, stressing the HoR’s support for this approach to make an effective contribution to overcoming all difficulties and obstacles. ‎

‎At the end of the meeting, the HoR Speaker and his two Deputies stressed the need to unify institutions in all parts of Libya, while stressing the need to continue unified action in supporting reconstruction and the process of construction in all parts of Libya.
