Benghazi’s Julyana Free Port increases shipping traffic: 43 ships docked in January

Benghazi’s Julyana Free Port reported last Wednesday (23 April) that a new shipping line connecting it with major ports in China and the United Arab Emirates was inaugurated on the same day.

The operators of the shipping line explained that the journey time will be a maximum of 25 days from China, and only ten days from Jebel Ali Port in the UAE.

The launch of the shipping line coincided with the arrival of the Ro-Ro ‘‘UGR Al Samha’’. The RO-RO is a low emission LNG-powered vessel, the first to dock at a Libyan port. It is equipped with modern technologies for the new generation of ships dedicated to transporting more than 7,000 cars, and is specialised in transporting cars, trucks, and heavy equipment.

Commenting on the occasion, Benghazi Chamber of Commerce said the new shipping line is a qualitative addition to commercial activity, reinforcing the role of the Port of Julyana as an important commercial gateway in the region.
