A high-level Libyan delegation participated in the international Mediterranean Forum on Decarbonisation: DecarboMed, in Tunis from 24 to 25 September, GIZ Libya reported last Monday (4 November).

GIZ Libya said the aim of the visit was to engage with Mediterranean partners on collaborative strategies for reducing carbon emissions and to showcase Libya’s commitment to sustainable energy initiatives.

The event was organised by the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME) in partnership with the European Union and GIZ Tunisia, providing a significant platform for discussion and exchange among Mediterranean countries on strategic approaches to reduce carbon emissions.

The Libyan delegation included representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Local Government, the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL), and the director of the Environmental Sanitation Department at Tripoli Centre Municipality.

Two GIZ projects were involved: the Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation for Resilience (SECCAR) and the Support to Municipalities in Libya (SML3).
