Germany’s GIZ (Libya) reported today that last Monday (9 September) a national workshop was held at the premises of the Libyan Ministry of Environment to launch work activities for Climate Change Adaptation of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation for Resilience project (SECCAR) in Libya.
Approximately 50 participants attended the workshop including representatives of several ministries and relevant government agencies.
The workshop was opened by the Minister of Environment, Ibrahim Al Arabi, the Ambassador of the European Union, Nicola Orlando, the Deputy Ambassador of Germany, Sven Krause and a representative of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The workshop began with a reminder of the objectives and outcomes of the project within the framework of Climate Change Adaptation and included the following topics:
– Presenting the work plan, work packages and timeline
– Presenting main activities and outputs
The workshop also included focus group discussions, and among the outcomes of the workshop was a collection of attendees’ suggestions for inclusion in a detailed action plan within the following five axes:
– Strategic framework for climate change adaptation
– Data management
– Coordination and joint work mechanisms
– Develop and strengthen skills and abilities
– Raising awareness and enhancing communication
In conclusion, the next steps were announced within the plan to implement the SECCAR project to enhance resilience in Libya.
