The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Economy and Trade, in cooperation with the private sector, conducted a field visit last Wednesday (12 September) to several companies specialized in establishing paper recycling plants in Henan, China.
The ministry said this was to see the production lines for the paper industry in a step aimed at benefiting from some of the new technologies for treating paper waste into new materials to reduce the burden on cleaning companies by recycling paper garbage. This is because paper is one of the most recyclable materials to benefit from in many local industries to help maintain foreign exchange reserves and reduce Libyan imports from abroad, it explained.
This visit comes within the framework of the establishment of a factory by the Libyan private sector in Libya for the manufacture of paper with an area of 4 hectares, with a production capacity of 200 tons per day, and with special specifications that contribute to protecting the environment by recycling used paper. The factory is expected to be operational in June 2025.
The Economy Ministry stressed the provision of all facilities related to the Ministry of Economy and Trade, and the demonstration of procedures in front of investors and business owners. It noted the Economy and Trade Minister Mohamed Hwej’s interest in the business sector and investors to localize industries, which contributes to diversifying sources of income and increasing new job opportunities for young people.
