Several reputable Libyan media sites have published a copy of a leaked letter from the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) purporting to end the suspension of the Tripoli based Oil and Gas Minister Mohamed Aoun.
Neither the ACA nor the Tripoli based Aldabaiba government have made any official, direct or indirect, confirmation of the contents of the widely leaked letter.
It will be recalled that on 25 March, the ACA had suspended Aoun and referred him to investigation. The suspension was on charges of legal violations and was as a precaution “for reasons of interest”.
Khalifa Abdel Sadig has taken over the role as Acting Oil Minister.
It remains to be seen if Aldabaiba will automatically unsuspend Aoun and allow him to return to his post. Sceptics alleged that Aldabaiba was behind the suspension of the problematic Aoun who always spoke his mind in opposition to some policy, specifically on the controversial NC7 Hamada exploration deal with foreign partners.
