Three tree fellers have been detained, pending further investigation, by the Beida Public Prosecutor for illegally felling public forest trees in the municipality of Sahel Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar in eastern Libya.
The Attorney General’s Office reported that the tree fellers were monitored slow- burning the cut trees turning them into charcoal used for BBQs, cooking etc. Machines used for the unlicenced tree felling were seized at the site.
The Public Prosecutor directed that the rest of those who contributed to the incident be arrested and brought for interrogation.
