The Director General of Libya’s National Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises, Ahmed Al-Namawi, met at the Ministry of Local Government last Sunday (4 February) with representatives of the German Foundation for International Cooperation (GIZ) to discuss prospects for cooperation to support small projects and entrepreneurship.

Business incubator projects and entrepreneurship centers in municipalities
The meeting focused on discussing the details of implementing business incubator projects and entrepreneurship centres in municipalities, and ways to strengthen the partnership between GIZ and the SME Department. The meeting also reviewed the programmes that were previously implemented, and exchanged experiences, especially in the field of training and developing national cadres.

ITC, Agri-incubators, and aquaculture

This, in line with the Ministry’s vision and achieving its goals in diversifying agricultural sources of income, support and development of productive sectors, and sponsorship of entrepreneurial initiatives.

Reviewing SME Department’s future vision
The meeting also touched on reviewing the future vision of the SME Department, discussing the extent of the possibilities of providing support in the fields of training and development for local and national cadres, and emphasizing the importance of supporting small and medium enterprises and ensuring their sustainability in municipalities to enhance the national economy and contribute to spatial development effectively.
