Minister of Economy and Trade launches “Skills and Solutions” project

The Tripoli based Libyan Ministry of Economy and Trade announced today, under the patronage of the Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, the launch of the Entrepreneurs Skills and Solutions Project. The project aims through a workshop to enhance skills and employment for the development of the private sector.

The project launch was with the participation of the Undersecretaries of the Ministry for Trade Affairs and Free Zones Affairs, the Director General of the National Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises, the Director General of the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and the Deputy Director of Programmes at an international training organisation and the Executive Director of the Libyan Industry Union. ‎

‎During the workshop, the participants followed up a visual presentation of the Skills and Solutions project, which aims to develop the skills of students in Libyan universities and recent graduates, owners of ideas and small projects in the fields of employment and the green and blue economy.

The project also featured supporting the plan to align education and training with the requirements of the labour market, enhance employability and the use of digital technology in economic activities, focus on developing applications related to the green and blue economy, in addition to cooperation with banking and financial institutions to reach the financing of small and medium enterprises. ‎

‎The participants made a number of observations, on the mechanisms of preparing the project, the stages of implementation, and coordination between the relevant authorities.‎

Supporting students’ ideas and keeping pace with modern education methods
In his speech, the Economy Minister praised the efforts of the team implementing the project. He pointed to the importance of the role of universities and academics in implementing the project and attracting the target groups of the project and developing educational curricula and plans in universities and higher institutes in a way that supports students’ ideas and keeps pace with modern education methods.

He also highlighted the use of artificial intelligence and technology as tools in building and implementing economic ideas and projects. He stressed the need to enhance cooperation with the project-based team, to develop the components and provide the necessary facilities for the implementation of its stages, within time and the specific mechanism, and achieves the desired results. ‎

‎Coordinating with Prime Minister’s initiative 1,000 Entrepreneurs and 1,000 Projects
The Minister also directed the Undersecretary for Audit Affairs to coordinate and coordinate with the Prime Minister’s initiative 1000 Entrepreneurs and 1000 Projects, which aims to support Libyan youth and stimulate innovation in the field of entrepreneurship, within the framework of the government’s vision to enhance the role of startups in economic development. ‎

‎The workshop was attended by the directors of the competent departments and offices at the Ministry, the Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Blue and Green Economy, the directors of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Offices at the universities of Tripoli, Gharian, and Zawi a, and a representative of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB).‎
