The UN in Libya announced Monday that, thanks to funding from the Government of Greece, its World Food Programme completed the rehabilitation of the port of Benghazi, improving the port’s infrastructure and strengthening the region’s trade capacity, as well as facilitating the smooth delivery of humanitarian assistance.
A project debriefing was held in Benghazi on 10 December, chaired by the Consulate General of Greece and WFP, and attended by representatives of the Italian, Egyptian and Sudanese consulates in Benghazi, as well as the Greek community and UNDP, to mark the successful completion of the project.
