Russia’s Foreign Ministry’s Official Spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said during her routine press conference yesterday that her country’s rescuers are ending their mission in eastern Libya.
Eastern Libya was hit by Storm Daniel on 10 September leading to around 4,000 deaths and 10,000 people missing (presumed dead). It also caused enormous infrastructural damage. Many states sent humanitarian aid as well as rescue specialist.
Zakharova said the Russian rescuers had been working around the clock for ten days to mitigate the aftermath of Storm Daniel in the most challenging and dangerous areas (of the storm hit areas of eastern Libya). She stated that the rescuers had cleaned up almost 2,000 m3 of structures and debris.
