Customs Authority implements digital transformation through pilot project for customs declaration e-portal

The Customs Authority is to implement a customs declaration e-portal pilot project as part of its digital transformation policy.

The news was revealed after an expanded meeting and discussions held last Sunday headed by Major General Suleiman Ali Salem, Director General of the Customs Authority, together with several relevant departments.

The Director General confirmed at the meeting that digital transformation will receive the largest share of financial support and attention this year.

The meeting then approved the implementing a local system for electronic customs declaration through the electronic portal, to be applied at the customs ports of Ras Jadir and the Khoms sea port. The Customs Authority stated that this will be a pilot phase to computerize customs procedures in all ports to ensure that customs data is documented electronically.
