Libya’s Tripoli-based Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Ali Al-Abed Al-Rida, participated in the conclusion of the workshop held in Tunis, organized by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), on the National Rehabilitation and Reintegration Project (DDR of militias).
The three-day workshop was attended by representatives of the USIP’s Libya office, the UNDP, a group of experts and specialists, and the National Rehabilitation and Reintegration Project Department, in the presence of the Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the field representative of the Islamic Development Bank Group, and the Labour Attaché at the Libyan Embassy in Tunisia.
The workshop discussed ways to activate the programmes and activities planned in the National Rehabilitation and Reintegration Project, in addition to defining cooperation mechanisms with the USIP to raise the capabilities of project workers.
Minister Al-Abed called on all parties to cooperate in order for the project to succeed, pointing out that the project is one of the real mechanisms for making the peace process in the country, and it is also the main pillar for any upcoming national project.
The minister stressed the need for all governmental and international agencies to contribute to the success of the project, in coordination with each agency to carry out its role entrusted to it through the vision of the ministry’s work.
