During a meeting Sunday at his Tripoli headquarters, Libya’s Transport Minister Mohamed Shahubi discussed with the Tunisian Ambassador to Libya issues of common interest:
The Transport Ministry reported that these included the following:
1-Payment of debts owed by the Libyan state.
2-Preparing to hold meetings of the Libyan-Tunisian Higher Committee as soon as possible.
3-The persistence of the problem of similarity of travellers’ names at the borders.
4-Agreement to assign a consulting office to prepare and design a commercial space in the border zone for free trade.
5-Request for the provision of weapons and metal detectors / scanners for the border crossing to reduce congestion.
6-Work to open a sea line between the ports of Tripoli and Misrata and the port of Sfax.
This meeting was also attended by Wissam Khalifa Al-Idrisi, Undersecretary for Ministerial Affairs and Maritime Transport, and Fadlallah Rafallah Ashour, Undersecretary for Land Transport Affairs and Adel Bakhit Ibrahim, Director of the International Cooperation Office.
