The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced Friday that it has completed the implementation of a vital strategic project to increase the supply of natural gas to the local market, and the project to complete the scraper sending unit (pipeline inspection and scrapping gauge -PIG) of the Sirte oil and gas processing company.
To supply local market with 170 million cubic feet of gas per day
The NOC reported that a modern pressure reduction system has been established at the Green Stream company gas compressor station. This has commenced operational trials to raise the station’s capacity to supply the local market with about 700 million cubic feet of gas per day, with an increase of approximately 170 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The work of connecting the Sirte Company scraper has also been completed which enables it to carry out pipeline cleaning works, as well as carry out electronic inspections using the smart scraper (PIG).
The gas will gradually flow into the local market system until the operational trials related to the gas reduction system are completed.
The NOC reported that these works were carried out in conjunction with the comprehensive overhaul of the Mellitah complex, as they require the complete cessation of gas pumping operations.
