The two-day Maghreb Banking Forum on the Digital Economy for the Reconstruction of Libya concluded in Istanbul yesterday with a focus on Libya’s agricultural sector.
Sectorial workshops
Several sectoral workshops on technological innovation to develop the agricultural sector and localize the management of agricultural digitization projects in the southern Libyan region were held. These focused on the cultivation of olives and palm trees and the centre-pivot / wheat circle and fodder cultivation.
Renewable energy farming
The project of model farms managed by renewable energy was also presented, based on the management of rationalization and water consumption.
Challenges in banking finance and laws discussed
The attendees discussed the mechanism of banking services, the challenges facing financing development projects, the development of laws and legislation, the role of the insurance sector in economic recovery, and the challenges of insurance digitization.
Next Maghreb Banking Forum to be held in Tripoli in November 2023
It was also emphasized that the recommendations of the forum would be submitted for approval with the competent authorities, stressing that the next forum will be held in Libya in November 2023, with the participation of the targeted affiliated bodies in the Ministry of Economy and Trade on digital transformation and the relevant authorities.
The workshop programme was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritania, the Secretary General of the Union of Maghreb Banks, the Director General of the Union of Libyan Banks, the Director General of the North African Bank, the Director General of the Unity Bank, several international institutions, and a group of experts and interested persons.
