The Ministry of Interior’s Special Tasks Department in Misrata reported yesterday that it had arrested three individuals and seized four fuel trucks and 140,000 litres of diesel intended for smuggling.

The Special Tasks Department said the three accused were arrested while driving the trucks just before the left Misrata. It reported that according to the arrestees’ confessions the smuggled fuel was to be sold on the black market in the cities of Sirte and Al-Jufra. The trucks were filled from places designated for fuel smuggling in Misrata.

The accused were referred to the competent authorities to complete the rest of their legal procedures.

The Special Tasks Department affirmed that it would spare no effort in combating all crimes and negative phenomena, including the phenomenon of fuel smuggling, in order for the Libyan citizen to enjoy comfort and security.
