The Renewable Energies Authority of Libya (REAoL) announced Monday that engineers from its Projects Department met with a team of engineers from the executing company, as well as a team from the Tawergha Distribution Department of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), at the one MW Tawergha solar energy project site.

The attendees were briefed on the project site, and the mechanism for connecting to the electrical network was discussed and the most important requirements that must be met to start executing these works were discussed.

The visit, REAoL explained, is part of a series of field visits for the purpose of completing all preliminary studies related to the project.

Raise contribution of renewables to national grid
REAoL said the project comes within the framework of its endeavour to develop the renewable energies sector and exploit all available resources to raise their percentage of contribution in the energy supply system.

MoU with German consortium
This also comes within the memorandum of understanding concluded between REAoL and the consortium of the two companies (German GTG Holding and Fraunhofer ZA) to implement a solar energy project with a capacity of 1 megawatt in the Allam area of Tawergha.
