The House of Representatives announced Thursday that it will be holding an official session on Monday in Benghazi.
In its announcement, the HoR said the session will discuss the letter of the High State Council (HSC) regarding the nomination of the General Assembly of the Supreme Court as a president of the court instead of its current president, Mohamed Al-Hafi.
Analysis
The move by the HoR and HSC is seen as an attempt to control the High Court after it activated its constitutional chamber. The status quo and anti-election HoR and HSC are worried the constitutional chamber will void their decisions and/or usher in elections whose outcome they cannot control.
The HoR also fears that the constitutional court could pronounce it null and void and end its tenure.
