Libya to launch digital transformation project: Finance Minister Mabrouk

Speaking at the Istanbul Fintech 2022 expo, Libya's Finance Minister Khaled Mabrouk said Libya’s Ministry of Finance is in the process of launching a digital transformation project to manage financial and governmental data and information (Photo: Ministry of Finance).

Libya’s Ministry of Finance is in the process of launching a digital transformation project to manage financial and governmental data and information. The revelation was made by the Tripoli-based Finance Minister Khaled Al-Mabrouk

The Minister also said that his government will establish a unified treasury account, and electronic payment and collection for the ministry and its affiliates such as the Tax Authority and the Customs Authority.

Al-Mabrouk was speaking during his inauguration of the Financial and Banking Technology Conference held in Istanbul from 28-29 June. The event hosted a large international participation of financial institutions, banks and companies specialized in the service, financial and banking industries (Fintech).

The conference covered many topics, the most important of which are:

  • Shaping the future of financial technology and the banking industry
  • Financial and digital banking and open banking services
  • Digital transformation in the financial and banking sector and other axes.

Speaking on the side-lines of the opening of the conference, Minister Mabrouk stressed the importance of holding this type of specialized conference in the field of financial and banking technology and invited financial and banking institutions to coordinate fully among themselves and set policies and programmes towards developing and providing innovative financial services and products to reach the stage of financial inclusion.
