UNSMIL warmly welcomed today the meeting that took place in Sirte yesterday between General Abdulrazzak Al-Nazouri, representing Khalifa Hafter and his forces, and General Mohammed Al-Hadad, representing the official Libyan government’s forces.

The first ever meeting

Commenting to Libyan media, Al-Nazouri said the meeting with Al-Haddad was “very friendly”, adding that they will unify the military establishment without foreign interference. He said that the meeting “was very cordial, and we got to understanding each other faster than the Libyan people expected”.

He noted that the meeting was “purely” Libyan-Libyan and that “all points of view are close.”

Meanwhile, the Presidency Council, in its capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Army, considered the as a “step to unify the military institution.”
