Nearly 7,000 overseas voters now registered: HNEC

London, 24 August 2021:

Libya’s High National Elections Commission (HNEC) reported yesterday that the total number of overseas voters registered until yesterday was 6,872 voters, of which 4,732 were men and 2,140 were women.

It reported that the rate of increase in registration compared to the number of previously registered was 53 percent, with 2,378, registering, including 1,769 men and 582 women, which it said was remarkable increase in its first week.

The list of the five countries with the most registrations are 1-Others, 2-UK, 3-Egypt, 4-Turkey 5-Canada.

The number of previously registered voters from abroad was (4,494), of whom (2,936) were men, and (1,558) were women.

In view of this high increase that was achieved within only one week of the inauguration of the system, the HNEC said it was pleased to congratulate the registered Libyan communities abroad, and highly appreciated their patriotism and aspirations towards building their homeland, Libya.
