UNSMIL announced yesterday that the-so-called Mini-Meeting concluded, in the Tunisian capital, with discussions on completing the first two steps of the UN-facilitated roadmap: forming the High National Elections Commission and amending the legal framework for elections.
During the meeting, facilitated by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Ms. Hanna Tetteh, the participants initialled the draft final agreement. They agreed to meet again inside Libya before the end of this month to finalize arrangements for implementing the agreement and its official announcement.
UNSMIL added that the signing of the draft agreement, which includes what the two parties agreed upon regarding the electoral laws and the board of directors of the High National Elections Commission, is a prelude to completing the executive arrangements for the agreement and officially announcing it inside Libya before the end of this month.
