London, 4 August 2021:
Libya has launched its Government Procurement System. The official launch ceremony took place yesterday at the Tripoli headquarters of the General Information Authority.
Implemented by the General Information Authority, in cooperation with the Audit Bureau, the Ministry of Economy, and Al-Madar Mobile Phone Company, the project aims to organize procedures related to government procurement.
Speaking at the launch event, Audit Bureau head Khaled Shakshak stressed the urgent need for the government procurement system project, which he said leads to competition and transparency, and enables state institutions to obtain the best alternatives when launching government procurement projects.
Shakshak expressed the Bureau’s keenness to support this project, due to its full conviction of the importance of a transparent and clear system through which contracts can be reviewed and opinion expressed.
