London, 16 August 2021:

The Libyan Business Council eastern branch revealed that member companies will have a role in the implementation of the new Coastal Motorway in cooperation with the implementing Italian companies. The motorway is to be built by Italy as part of its colonial era compensation agreement.

The news came after Italy’s Benghazi Consul Carlo Batori met Fawzia Furjani, the head of the Libyan Business Council eastern branch, and Idris El Karghaly, Head of the Transportation Projects Execution Authority in the Eastern Region.

The discussions concerned the mechanism for the implementation of the branch of the Coastal Motorway from the Egyptian border to eastern city of Al-Marj.
