London, 17 August 2021:

The Economic and Social Development Fund (ESDF) is discussing the possibility of manufacturing anti-Coronavirus vaccines in Libya to reduce reliance on imports. It gave no further details on the plans.

The discussions came during yesterday’s board meeting between the ESDF and it’s the board of its subsidiary the Alinma Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies Company.

The meeting, held at the ESDF’s headquarters and chaired by its Chairman Mahmoud Abdulsalam Al-Washahi, focused on the need to expand the medical company’s activities, supporting its financial and technical position, and communicating with all government agencies to give priority to the company because of its long experience and capabilities in the field of importing medicines and medical supplies.
