London, 6 August 2021:
Libya’s Attorney General yesterday referred two employees of the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) to trial for accepting gifts from a foreign contractor. The evidence against them was apparently investigated, collected, and presented by the Internal Security Agency.
The statement issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office did not name the accused or the company that gave them the gift but indicated that a crime had been proven of them accepting a gift to which they had no right, presented to them by the owner of the company contracted to supply some operational materials for GECOL.
