London, 22 June 2021:
In a statement issued yesterday by the Presidency Council and directed to the Foreign Minister through the Libyan government, the Presidency Council rejected the intention of the Italian Foreign Ministry to organize a forum in Rome for the various constituents of southern Libya.
The Presidency considered this approach a transgression of the Libyan authorities and an interference in the internal affairs of Libya. Specifically, it objected to not being consulted on the matter since it has recently launched its reconciliation initiative.
It deplored the move by the Italian Foreign Ministry and demanded that it cancels the event.
