London, 1 March 2021:

At a meeting that included representatives of the UNDP in Tripoli on Sunday, Emad Sayeh, head of Libya’s High National Election Commission (HNEC) followed up on the developments of the issuance of the smart / e-voter card that HNEC is working on in preparation for the 24 December 2021 elections.

The meeting discussed the level of preparations for the production of the smart electoral card, and the possibility of technical and advisory support provided by the United Nations Election Support Mission.

The session also reviewed the internationally applicable standard specifications, the implementation mechanism, and the most important features available in the models presented by the work team to HNEC.
