London, 4 February 2021:
The Tripoli Ministry of Economy and Industry launched yesterday, the electronic commercial (company) registry system. The central register will now be linked to regional registers electronically.
The system, to be supervised by its Documentation and Economic Information Centre, will be linked to the system of lawyers at the Ministry of Justice and the Documentation Centre at the Ministry of Labour.
It will also allow for viewing (but no ability to input) by the Central Bank of Libya and the Customs and Tax Authorities.
Besides better operational efficiency in creating and registering companies, it is hoped the electronic company register will improve transparency and reduce corruption.
