London, 10 December 2020:
The Libyan Ports Company (LPC) will start charging ships at Libyan ports for some services in hard currency (U.S. dollar and the Euro). The decree published on Tuesday goes into effect from 1st January 2021.
The LPC said the aim of the move is to increase its revenues.
As a first step, the foreign currency charge will be applied to:
- Hygiene fees,
- Health service fees
- Waste transport fees
- Port berthing, entry and exit fees
The LPC implied that charges in hard currency for other services will be introduced at later dates.
