London, 30 May 2020:
Another 19 new cases of Coronavirus and one death were reported by Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control NCDC over the last two days. There has also been one new recovery which brings the total to 41.
On Thursday, 6 new cases were reported by the NCDC in Sebha. The cases had interacted with a known case. On Friday another 13 cases were reported in the southern city who had also mixed with known cases.
The outbreak has resulted in a lockdown of the city and prevention of inter-city travel, postponement of plans to reopen schools in early June and the formation of a committee to investigate the sudden outbreak.
Flights repatriating Libyans stranded abroad continue to arrive while Libyans have also returned from Egypt by car and bus.
