London, 28 May 2018:
France officially confirmed the long-leaked news that it will be holding a conference on Libya in its capital tomorrow.
In an official statement, the Elysee said that ‘An international conference on Libya will be held under the auspices of the United Nations on Tuesday, May 29 in Paris at the Elysee Palace.
In the presence of the international community, the President of the Republic will welcome on this occasion the representatives of the Libyan government and a delegation of political actors representing the main institutions of Libya.
Libyan officials and the international community will be invited on that day to engage in the implementation of an inclusive political road map, out of the crisis that has affected the country and the region for several years.
After seven years of conflict and tension, this unprecedented conference – which is a continuation of the efforts made since 2011 by the international community and the United Nations – aims to open a new period of stability and cooperation, expected by all Libyan people.’
