Benghazi, 6 January 2018:
A former post office manager has escaped unhurt from an apparent assassination attempt in Soloug , after a car bomb exploded outside his home.
Musa Nimur Al-Aqwri, who has previously held senior roles in the post office, had just returned home when the explosion happened at ten this morning. For reasons that are unclear, it is understood the car had a number of sheep inside which perished in the blast.
Part of Aqwri’s home was damaged with the outside wall completely destroyed. Nearby houses also had their windows shattered, but no one was hurt. The local municipal council confirmed the lack of causalities.
Rumours that Aqwri, a member of the Awagir tribe, wanted to become a political candidate or was against the Libyan National Army (LNA) have been denied by an acquaintance, who described him as normal man who was “largely supportive” of the LNA.
