A renowned singer, musician and composer, Hassan first appeared on the Libyan music scene in the late 1960s. His first song was released in 1970, only six months after Qaddafi came to power.

After the 2011 revolution, Hassan remained quiet until late 2014 when he released his latest single. The song was about forgetting animosities and rebuilding the country.
