London, 22 November 2017:
The Audit Bureau announced yesterday that it had suspended two Central Bank of Libya inspectors. Their suspensions are temporary while investigations continue.
These were: Mukhtar Hadi Al-Taweel, Manager of Inspection and Monetary Control, and Abdelhafeed Masoud Tirbel, Deputy Manager of Inspection and Monetary Control.
The Audit Bureau has charged them with ”Misuse of their position to harm state interest and obstructing the work of the Audit Bureau and refusal to present requested documentation for inspection and oversight work and for inciting commercial (private sector banks) into not cooperating with the Audit Bureau”.
