Tunis, 23 September 2017:
Malta is one of the European countries that most understands Libya, its prime minister Jospeh Muscat has told UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres in New York.
Libya was an absolute priority for his country Muscat told the UN chief, according to the Times of Malta. He added that there was no faction which was totally right, therefore there should be empathy toward all the different positions. Because of Malta’s understanding of Libya, it remained willing to help broker a political solution.
It is also reported that Muscat pointed out the increasing number of purely economic migrants seeking to leave Libya for Europe. The Times said Guterres agreed, which was why, he explained, the UN was promoting a migration pact which would cover “all components of this delicate challenge”.
