Tripoli, 31 August 2017:
A car transporter is claimed to have been carrying car bombs when it was intercepted on Benghazi’s Airport road.
The driver of the articulated truck with eight vehicles loaded onto its double-level trailer was arrested. The security forces who stopped it and searched the cars are said to have discovered three artillery shells and three containers of home-made explosives in at least one of the vehicles.
One source said that they had been wired and ready to explode. It was being assumed that the likely target was Benghazi International airport which resumed operations last month after four years.
No details of the driver have been given nor is it clear why the truck was stopped.
