Benghazi, 11 July 2017:
The murder of a senior official today in Benghazi is being blamed on a family vendetta.
Mohammed Al-Marshti was gunned down outside his home in Syria street this morning. He was head of the Civil Registration Department in Eastern Libya.
Sources in the Benghazi Security Directorate said there was no political or terrorist connection to the murder. The dead man’s family had been in a long-running dispute with another family over the death of one of their family members.
It is understood that the police have not yet made any arrests.
