Tripoli, 2 April 2017:
Libyan Airlines says it is to start operating flights from Tripoli to Djerba in Tunisia. It suspended the route six years ago.
“LA will operate two flights weekly to Djerba airport, on each Sunday and Thursday,” airline spokesman Saad Abu Khatwa told the Libya Herald.
The schedule would be Sundays at 14:00 and Thursdays at 18:00, he added.
The first flight is to be on Thursday, 6 April.
Although in normal circumstances it is easier and quicker to drive from Tripoli to Djerba, the road is regularly blocked, either at border or closer to Tripoli. There area also several connecting flights daily at Djerba, most of them to France.
