Tunis, 3 April 2017:
Agence France Presse photographer Abdullah Doma was not released overnight as reported this morning. The information on Doma’s freedom came from an Libyan National Army source.
Doma’s family yesterday said that Abdullah was held by the anti-terrorist unit of the interior ministry’s homeland security department near Fuwayhat police station.
However, the Libya Herald has since been told that last night Wanis Bukhamada, the commander of the Saiqa Special Forces, alongside whom Doma has worked regularly as a press photographer, came in person to the Fuwayhat building and took him into his own custody. Even so, at the insistence of the counter-terrorism unit, some of their people went with Doma to continue questioning him. It remains unclear what connections between Doma and terrorism are suspected.
