London, 24 April 2017:
The House of Representatives finally announced its new 24-member Political Dialogue Committee yesterday. Deep divisions within the HoR have led to the delay in the selection of the committee.
The committee is expected to negotiate the amendment of the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Skhirat, Morocco in December 2015.
The committee is chaired by former GNC and current HoR member for Zintan, Abdulasalam Nasia, and is made up of 21 male and only 3 female members.
It is widely expected that the committee will negotiate for the reduction of the Presidency Council to three members – one for each of Libya’s regions.
