On the eve of the Rome migrant summit between Libya and the EU, the Italian embassy in Tripoli has announced that it is to re-start processing Schengen visa applications by Libyans.
A source the the embassy said a full statement was still being worked on but that from 2 April people could apply for the visas at the Tripoli consulate.
There had been speculation that in the migrant agreement being negotiated today in Rome, Libya might seek a similar visa deal to given Turkey is return for stemming the departure of migrant craft from its west coast to nearby Greek islands.
