The school holiday has been extended by 22 days because new text books have not arrived and some schools are still undergoing maintenance.
The ministry of education has that the new 2016/2017 academic year will not start until 24 October. Term had been due to begin on 2 October. All schools, primary, middle and secondary are affected.
It has not been possible to contact the ministry to ask what text books have not arrived and how many schools are still being repaired.
