There were water shortages reported by some inhabitants of Tripoli over the last two days, Libya . . .[restrict]Herald was told by a resident of Al-Hadba yesterday. Some areas have reported only low water pressures whilst others have experienced no water shortage at all.
The water authorities said that the shortage was caused by an electrical fault which led to the pumps of the Man-made River Hassauna water wells in the south to cut temporarily.
The Tripoli Central Municipality also stated that water supply was not completely cut-off to the capital but that the brief power outage caused water supply to stop briefly, leading to a loss of pressure. It said that water pressure should be back to normal by Friday
However, some social media posts report that the water shortage was caused deliberately by some people in the south in protest over the overly long power cuts. They feel that the powers that be in Tripoli are cutting power on the south unfairly in favour of Tripoli. There is no confirmation of this. [/restrict]
