Benghazi, 18 April 2016:
AGOCO is reported to have made a new find to the south-west of Maradah. Against the . . .[restrict]odds, exploration for new oil prospects has continued in Libya despite the threats of IS raids encouraged by chaotic security.
The discovery by the fully-owned, Benghazi-based NOC subsidiary is in Bloc 47, also referred to as “FF2-147”. The company says that the well tested with an initial flow of 1,892 b/d.
The Beida oilfield near Maradah has already been attacked this month causing the evacuation of staff from some facilities. It was not possible to check with AGOCO if its well test had been conducted before or since these terror attacks.
The continued prospecting by AGOCO, despite the almost total lack of foreign support companies, would seem to demonstrate that within the Libyan oil industry there exists an ecnouraging reservoir of technical talent. [/restrict]
