Tripoli, 16 February 2016:

The House of Representatives has agreed to a request by prime minister-designate Faiez Serraj to . . .[restrict]delay discussing his new list of ministers for another week. He asked for the delay after two of the ministers who had been chjosen withdrew their nominations.

However, according to a source in the HoR, it has told him that he will have to turn up in Torbuk on Saturday with his amended list together with the CVs of the ministers and his agenda for government so that it could vote on the matter the following Tuesday.

It has also threatened that if Serraj fails to keep to the date it will reject outright the Presidency Council and the Libyan Political Agreement.

Sources in the HoR further say that at present they have reservations about some of the names in the list in particular that of Mohamed Siala, who has ben chosen as foreign minister. He is said to have continued to support the Qaddafi regime long after the revolution started.

There are suggestions that when it comes to vote on the government, the HoR will do so on each name, one at a time, rather than on the whole cabinet in a single vote.

Serraj is currently in Cairo where he is believed to be having talks with Egyptian officials on the Libyan crisis. [/restrict]
