Tripoli, 13 January 2016:
The municipal council in . . .[restrict]Zuwara, Libya’s largest Amazigh-majority town, has cancelled Amazigh New Year celebrations today because of the country’s current crisis and in particular in solidarilty with Zliten and the victims of the suicide attack there last week.
Yennayer, the Amazigh word for “first month” falls on 13 January. It corresponds to 1 January in the old Julian calendar.
Despite abandoning celebrations, as inappropriate in the present circumstances, Zuwara council has still a new library service in the town today. [/restrict]
