The Amazigh Supreme . . .[restrict]Council has announced that 13 January, the Amazigh new year, is to be kept as a public holiday.
The festival, known as Yennayer, has been publicly celebrated by Libya’s Amazigh communities as their their most important one ever since the revolution.
The ASC call is expected to be headed in the largely or partly Amazigh towns of Zuwara, Nalut, Jadu, Kabaw, Yefren, Al-Qala, Rahibat, Wazin, Tamzin and Garigan.
Tripoli also has a significant Amazigh community. [/restrict]
